Two horses in two stables. Tack for cross-country, boots and exercise bandages.
Handling
D1. How to approach, tie up, move about and handle a horse in a stable, and the importance of good stable manners for the horse.
D2. How to hold a horse for treatment.
D3. Handling difficult horses in and out of stables. Use of a twitch.
D4. Dealing with a cast horse in the box, during and after.
D5. Care of horses teeth. How to examine for sharp or wolf teeth.
D6. Basic knowledge of the Nervous System relating to the sensory systems.
Tacking Up
D7. Types and uses of bandages, materials, alternatives to gamgee.
D8. Putting on an exercise bandage, boots and tack a horse up for cross country schooling.
D9. Fit a saddle and a double bridle.
EXAMINER D - PART II
One horse in stable. Access to first aid equipment and bandages.
Common Ailments. Nursing. First Aid.
D1O. Recognition of good and ill health.
D11. Simple medical and veterinary terms.
D12. Precautions against infection and contagion. The horse's skin.
D13. Sick nursing.
D14. Understand support and current veterinary bandaging.
D15. Treatment of saddle sores and galls.
D16. Fomenting, tubbing, hosing.
D17. Hot and cold poultices, types and uses; applying to foot.
D18. How to deal with severe bleeding, circulatory system.
D19. Inoculations -types and timing.
D20. Precautions against flies and around stables.
D21. Treatment of coughs, colds, flu and strangles.
D22. Colic; recognition and treatment until vet arrives.
D23. Treatment for all kinds of worms.
D24. Ailments relating to feeding; laminitis, azoturia.
D25. Skin diseases.
D26. Eye diseases.
D27. Wounds - different types and treatment. When to call the vet for stitching or advice.
