TETRATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007

The Tetrathlon Championships were held for the second year running at Hartpury College, near Gloucester. We took an Open boys team of James and Robert Mullens, Tim Keevil and William Brennan, an Intermediate boys team of Nick Daniel, Oli Campbell-Hill and Harry Tabor and Marina Hunt as an individual Intermediate girl.

After the wettest summer for many a year we were very lucky that there was a competition at all and the weather over the weekend made camping and riding a fight for survival!! Indeed the Intermediate Girls riding had to be Arena Show Jumping as the cross country course had become
unusable after nearly constant heavy rain all day on Saturday.

All eight competitors gave of their best - the Open boys came 4th (the 3rd UK team) ( the Wilton's favoured spot!!), Harry Tabor was 5th individual only 110 points behind the winner, whilst Marina Hunt was 4th individual out of 97 Intermediate girls - a really excellent result and she was only 118 points behind the winner.
As usual the riding and the running phases were critical - James, Robert, Harry and Marina all scored 1400 for their ride, whilst Tim, William, Nick, Harry and Marina scored 800+ on their run in dreadful conditions.

Finally we wish Tim Keevil every success in the future as he comes to the end of his Tetrathlon career (sadly he will be 21 next year). He has been a great supporter for over 13 years - he first represented the Branch at the Mendip Triathlon in December 1994 - and he has now won a Bronze Award for the last two years at the Championships.

WILTON TETRATHLON TEAM AT STOCKLAND LOVELL

Stockland Lovell Inter Area Tetrathlon Competition 29th/30th May.

Thirteen members competed in this hugely popular competition at
Taunton and Stockland Lovell over two days with some excellent
results:
William Brennan 3rd Senior Boy (score 3801)
Sophie Abdy, Marina Hunt and Laura Young 3rd Intermediate Girls team
Venetia Matthews 6th Individual Junior Girl out of 77 with a score of 4125
Venetia, Rosanna Grant and Jessica Wheeler 4th Junior Girls team
Alexander Stephenson 1st Individual Mini Boy with a score of 4412. Best shot out of 266 competitors with 980/1000
Alexander, Tarquin Stephenson, Ollie Lambert and Jamie Matthews 1st Mini Boys team with an overall score of 12324

So a very successful "raid" by largely new teams/ new age groups/ new ponies/horses.
