SHOW JUMPING 2008
National Competitions
At National level there are three levels of competition:
The Novice Challenge (1st round max .90m, 2nd round max 1m) only teams qualify but they do accept individual competitors
The Open (1st round max SJ 1.10m, 2nd round max 1.15m) teams and individuals qualify
At Area level ONLY:
Junior – 12 yrs & under (as at 1.1.08), ponies 14.2hh and under (1st round max .75m, 2nd round max .90m)
The Area 14 Eventing qualifier for the National Championships takes place this year on 3rd August 2008 at Leyland Court and is hosted by Syston Pony Club..

If you are interested in being considered for the above competition and are eligible please contact Louise Phillips on 01761 411197 or 07815523979.
You need to be 12 or under on 1st January 2008
Your pony must be 14.2hh(148") or under
You need to be jumping 2'9" comfortably
You must have attended at least 3 rallies
You will need to be available on Tuesday 26th August for the competition and also be able to attend several training sessions with Mandy Bown on thursday evenings through july and august.

Show Jumping Practice
Seniors – organized by Karen Spence (01749 840625 – 07751744096) email : KS060360@tiscali.co.uk
Senior Show jumping is designed for members 12 years old and upwards to any age. The heights we jump start at 2’9” to 3ft 3” Everyone is welcome to come along and practice, you do not have to want to be in a team, you can just come along for fun.
Show jumping training dates for seniors:
- Every Tuesday and Wednesday at 7pm at Mandy Bowns.
- Starting Sept every two weeks either Sat or Sunday (depends on Mandys availablility)

Junior show jumping is for children mainly under 12 years. The average heights that we jump are from 1ft 9—2ft 9” but this depends on every individual and their capability. Older members who wish to jump at this height are also welcome at these sessions.
We like to encourage members to enjoy show jumping at all levels, whether they want to be competitive and join teams or just wants to go to a local show and have fun.
Run weekly on Tues and Thursday @ Wells Bottom Farm Trainer: Mandy Bown.
You must book in with Louise if you wish to attend these training sessions.

Remember when sending in entries to include payment with cheques made payable to 'Mendip Farmers Pony Club'.

Spurs
Spurs may be worn at Rallies and other events with the permission of the DC. Members without the B Test should carry proof of this permission. Only blunt spurs, without rowels or sharp edges may be worn. If the spurs are curved, the curve must be downwards and the shank must point straight to the back and not exceed 3cm in length. Sharp spurs may not be worn. Spurs that have a smooth rotating rubber or plastic ball on the shank are permitted.
