Dressage to Music at the PC Championships - Sansaw 2004

Kim and Annette - (Otherwise titled "Mud glorious Mud" - isn't it the Hippopotomus song? must find the music!)

As we arrive at Sansaw to perform our personal dressage to music routines what is the first thing you think we can see?

Mud and lots of it!

The weather leading up to the event had been exceptionally awful for the time of year. We all have to be towed on the site, there is no choice it is the only way.

We're glad we have arrived in plenty of time, there is, as always a queue for the tractor (thank you tractor and driver).

At this point we are thinking. What is the arena going to be like if this is the entrance? Did they use the same arenas for the main dressage yesterday, oh dear what shall we do?

As it happened we all performed in the main arena this year (not tucked away like last year) and the going and warm up areas were as good if not better than we expected, once we had managed to get to them through yet more mud.

First to go from Atherstone was Imogen on Morwyn Bronze Olympian (alias Teddy), he found the going a bit heavy (he only has little legs) but they did their best, the showjumping for our area team rode their rounds to Teddy's music which they enjoyed and it seemed to lift everyone's spirits.

Next to go was Sarah with Oscar Award, well what can we say, brilliant, amazing, fantastic, superb (even though Oscar managed to pull off a shoe half way through the test), and the judge agreed. Even if Mum thought they had added up the scores incorrectly. Well done Sarah. Imogen is last to go in the class with her second ride, Henry. The test was ok although the pony decided that the advertising banners were going to eat him if he took his eyes off them for a moment.

They came 1st as a team with Sarah/Oscar and Imogen/Henry and a 3rd member from another Branch.

Individual results were:
Sarah/ Oscar 1st, Imogen/ Henry 4th, and Imogen / Teddy 7th.

Well done girls.

The pairs were good to watch too with the little 11.2hh ponies winning the class, how sweet and cute did they look!

We managed to enter a pair with Imogen riding Henry and Charlotte riding Timmy, they again did quite a nice test but at times the ponies did get a little excited and the riders a little muddled (It was by now Imogen's 3rd test and they are all different). We were 2nd. Well done again.

Hopefully we will all be there again next year. We would like any one else who would like to have a go to join us. This is fast becoming an exciting and more interesting way of riding dressage. Have a go, it is quite amazing how the pony suddenly seems more interesting on the flat and how much more the rider wants to do.
