Guidelines for Attending Activities and Training
Below are a few notes about attending activities and training that we ask you follow:
- Please try and bring yourself and your ponies in correct pony club dress i.e. clean tack, plain numnah/girth, hacking jacket or A jumper or A jacket, shirt and Pony Club tie and pony club badge (with felt if applicable!)
- It is important that your ponies is fit for the activity your bringing your pony to, make sure it's vaccantions are up to date before camps and that you have new shoes on if shod.
- A pony with badly fitting or dirty uncomfortable tack will not be able to work and perform well, please make sure your tack is clean and fitting well and that will make your pony very happy, if your unsure of the fit of tack please speak to Catherine or me.
- Please make sure that you arrive in plenty of time to tack up correctly and start the rally on time, as those who arrive late are disruptive and may miss vital safety checks and briefings.
- It is really important that you thank the instructors, organisers and land owners at the end of a rally. This is just as important when attending any other branch competition/rally.
- The Pony Club Training structure encourages members to take tests which enables them to learn progressively about horse and pony care and riding. The tests are taken at recommended ages and are designed with certain objectives in mind. Please look at PC website on the test section for more details of the objectives http://www.pcuk.org/output/tests/ for you to be properly prepare for the test you are taking you must undergo course of test training get-together before doing the test.
-
Finally, we feel as a branch it is very important that members take Riding and Road Safety training and tests. We have three levels within the branch, Achievement badge (around 9 to 11 years) PC test (around 10 to 12 years at C test Level) and BHS test (from 12 years onwards) please try and do a course, it will help to make you safer on the road.
