Pony Club Championships 2005

This year we were fortunate to have a number of our branch members qualify for the Pony Club championships across the various disciplines. The members who took part and their parents/trainers/etc. all worked very hard to qualify and put in a great performance. More detail about each discipline follows:

Dressage to Music competitors, Sarah Holt, Beatle Payne and Sarah Gibson

Dressage to Music

Sarah Holt and Sarah Gibson rode an excellent test in the pairs competition and won the pairs class. For the second year running competitors got a good soaking during the individual classes! Unperturbed by the rain though, Beatle Payne rode a confident test on Thomas and more than deserved her 3rd place with 67.5%. This was an excellent performance by our branch members who quite rightly earned their place on the podium in true Olympic style!

Tetrathlon Championships competitor Hannah Goodman

Tetrathlon

Following an excellent performance at the Area Qualifier earlier this year, Hannah Goodman represented the branch at the Pony Club Tetrathlon Championships at Moreton Morrell. Hannah kept up with the training throughout camp and achieved personal bests in the Swimming and Running phases as well as maximum points in the riding.  Hannah came 37th out of 98 which was fantastic, well done Hannah, you did us all proud!

Eventing Championships competitor Rosie Wood

Eventing/Horse Trials

As our sole representative at the eventing championships, Rosie Wood was a credit to our branch. She rode a good dressage test, went superbly on the XC course coming home in great style, clear and inside the time, with one pole down in the SJ, she finished in fourteenth place out of 46 starters in her section. I'm sure she enjoyed the day and will want to return again next year!

Prince Philip Cup (Mounted Games)

The branch 'B' team qualified at the Zone for a runners up final to compete for the last place at HOYS which was held at the Pony Club Championships (the 'A' team having already qualified for HOYS at the Zone). A further report will be added shortly.

"Thank yous"

I'm sure that all the branch members who competed at the championships will agree that they couldn't have been able to qualify and compete at the championships without the help and support of all those that make up the "pit crew" and support behind the scenes; parents, instructors/trainers, team managers etc. So thank you to all these people, your hard work and support is undoubtedly greatly appreciated. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately depending on their perspective!) not all of these people were caught on camera, but a few are shown "in action" below:

Delivering much needed technical support from the side lines....

Walking the XC course with Eventing team manager and Chief Instructor ("just kick and you'll be fine...")

Teletubbies also made a guest appearance at the Championships...
