Show Jumping at Gracelands, 9th July

Albrighton Woodland - Gracelands 9th July (3'6")

Thanks to all those that turned up on such a hot day, and it was sooo dusty i am still washing grit out of my shoes!. we had 3 teams in the 3'6" which was fun trying to organise as there were only 7 teams in the class. Atherstone Foxes were up first with Jo Crawford - Touch and go, Abi Cubitt Smith - Melody, Jenny Lane - Mrs Smokie and Charlotte Gee - O B Rose. Jo had a great cear in the first round just to have an unlucky pole in the second round to leave her on 4th overall, well done Jo. Abi was really unlucky to have a fall on the flat when Melody found a hole in the surface and decided to fall into it, apart from that it was a lovely clear round with an unlucky pole in the second round. Jenny Lane went well with just a pole in the first round and 8 faults in the second round. Charlotte had a go at the 3'6" for the first time since her horse has been off and did a respectable round for the first time back, well done for having a go. The team finished in 5th Place well done. The next team was the Atherstone Hounds Jo Crawford - Garland Giselle, Abi - Wizz Kid, Sabrina Mc Clumpha - Murphy and Charmaine Boden - Lord Chance. Both Charmaine and Jo's Horses took a dislike to the water tray ending their campain for the day, bad luck. Sabrina and Abi were very unlucky to comlpete 2 very controled rounds just to have a pole in each, well done.

The stars of the show were the Atherstone Beagles with only 3 in the team, Francesca Bull - Bits and Bobs, Sarah Aspinal - Minuet and Ben Murray - Eliza Doolittle. Fancesca completed a foot perfect clear in the first round just to have and unlucky 8 faults in the second round, Sarah Aspinal was very unucky to have just 1 pole down in the first round and 2 in the second, good to see this horse and sarah back on form. Ben Murray was deffinately awake this week, apparently it was to do with the fact that he had had a sleep on the way to the competition, and wasted no time in each round just having a pole in each which left him 6th individually, good effort, the team on the otherhand were 2nd!!!!! well done, the Albrighton Woodland won, but we only had 3 in our team so it was an event better result.

A big THANK YOU for all turning out and its great to see so many wanting to have a go at the bigger classes, even if it is harder to keep track of everyone!!!!

Show Jumping (3 ft class) at Gracelands

We fielded two teams for this competition – what a trek on a hot day.   From fifteen teams there were seven with clear rounds which included both of our teams.

Fourth to go in the jump-off were the Atherstone Foxes who went clear on 127.86 with Ben particularly and Fran putting in amazingly fast rounds, and they were followed by the North Cotswold on 128.12.

The Foxes` round was good enough to WIN, receiving a handsome shield.   Ben nearly won the individual competition (on “Mother`s Old Cob”?!) but received two DUBIOUS time faults in the first round.  (Sadly we did not think we would have got anywhere if we had complained, and Ben never expected the horse to do so well in the jump-off).   So congratulations to Fran Bull, Jo Crawford, Sabrina McClumpha and Ben Murray (alphabetical order as all four rode brilliantly).

The other team, the Hounds, consisting of Charmaine Boden, Charlotte Gee, Ben Murray on a different pony and Hannah Tutcher came 5th with Ben going clear and Charmaine and Charlotte having a very unlucky four faults, but at least they had a go.  Good to see Charlotte`s horse performing again, and welcome back to Hannah.

The poor first member of the Albrighton team took the wrong course and was eliminated, otherwise I think we would have been “up against it”.  Look out for those three coloured ponies at the Novice Champs “Area”!

Thank you all for your representations and parents for your help.   You represented the AHBC excellently – pity there were not more logo saddle cloths worn, but I do appreciate they slip.
